Yes, it is possible to do forming simulation by using both implicit and explicit methods for the same run.

In LSDYNA3D, there is a new feature-switch the calculation from implicit to explicit method or from explicit to implicit.

Switching from explicit to implicit method will help to correct the error resulting from large dynamic effect; and switching from implicit method to explicit method will help to get a converged solution. When implicit method is used, sometimes it is difficult to get a converged solution, and at this time we can use explicit method to overcome this convergence difficulty
